Do you place a lot of faith in FIFA player stats? Here at FTBL Gamer, we think that they’ve definitely improved a lot since the days of Matteo Brighi and his 97 rating in FIFA 2003.
One current player who is not too fond of one his FIFA 20 stats is Chelsea wonderkid Fikayo Tomori.
Talking on BBC Match of the Day, Tomori was asked if he’d checked his stats, to which he replied that his “Pace was like 80,” and “To be fair, I’m not unhappy with it, but when I saw people that I know I’m quicker than, who are faster than me I’m like, ‘OK’.
The player he was referring to who he thinks he can outpace was Callum Hudson-Odoi, “I’m just gonna say it, Callum has 85 rated pace, I was 80. I was fuming.”
Their teammate Mason Mount agreed saying “I’d put Fik at the top,”, “He’s probably the quickest in our team.”
The story didn’t stop there though, with one journalist even asking Chelsea manager Frank Lampard about the issue at Chelsea’s press conference.
Lampard wouldn’t be drawn on who the faster of the two players was, but he did say “Tomori is fast. He’s very fast.”
Lampard said. “I remember FIFA cards when I was about 37 and my pace was 35 – so I was slower than my age, which is really strange.”
“I had to take those rankings with a pinch of salt, so should Tomori. He should show it in every game, which he has done so far.
